Introduction to Hokuriku

This journey will introduce participants to the Hokuriku Region, a lesser-known region of Japan that lies between the Sea of Japan and the Japan Alps. After departing from Tokyo, we will follow the Hokuriku Shinkansen route with a few stops in between, before dismissing at Osaka. Landscapes, traditional crafts, and culture are well preserved in city such as Kanazawa as it was not harmed in World War 2. Participants will be introduced to a rich collection of architecture from traditional works such as the Zenkoji Temple, to pre-war modernism works such as the National Crafts Museum, to post-war modernism works such as Hotel Royal Classic Osaka, and contemporary works from more than a dozen creators. Art, architecture, and design are weaved into almost every detail of this journey, including the accommodation.
